CHARLES HOLLIS JONES
July 18, 1945 - August 7, 2026
Charles Hollis Jones went to his eternal home on August 7th, 2026, at the age of 81
Charles was born July 18th, 1945, to Charley and Fronia (Colyer)Jones, of W. Popcorn Road Springville, in southern Monroe County.
Charles was the youngest son of a family of 9 children. He graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963, and upon graduation moved to California, attended The School of Art and Design. He had met furniture designer Joe Roide while on vacation in California at age 16. He streamlined some pieces for Mr. Roide and that was the start of his dream career. He knew at
that moment in time he had found his passion. Later in his career Charles taught at
Otis College of Art and Design. His God given talent led him to have a host of Hollywood elite clients, Dezi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen, Dean Martin, playwright Tennessee Williams. Later stars Diana Ross, Johnny Mathis, Muhammad Ali, and Sylvester
Stallone, Kelly Lynch and Kris Jenner. He received awards and accolades too numerous to mention. He continued his education through Landmark, taking many courses and going on to lead courses.
Charles had 41 plus years with Alcoholics Anonymous where he sponsored, assisted, and encouraged countless newcomers.
In 1993 Charles was diagnosed and treated for cancer of the throat, in 2020 he had
to have a feeding tube due to the scar tissue from the throat.
In March of 2026, he was very ill and chose to spend his time back in his hometown with his sisters Jan, and Diane nieces Angela, Patti, Malissa and grandniece Loralyn, nephew Tim, and
grandnephew Jimmy. He enjoyed the visits of his school friend Marsha and many
other friends and family who traveled great distances to spend time with him.
He had continual visits from Benita and Sherry. Jo Lauria, a dear friend wrote a beautiful tribute for Charles, copies will be available at the celebration.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday August 22nd, 2026, from 12 to 4pm at the Harrodsburg Community Center 1002 W. Popcorn Road. Bloomington, IN. 47403
Pastor Tony Stangas and Pastor Nathan Turner will officiate.
