Michael Joel Carter, 77, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at his residence.

Born July 10, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Harold and Hannah (Reiman) Carter.

Michael married Joy Barchers on March 13, 1976, and she survives.

He enjoyed reading about history and historical figures, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy; children, Matthew (Brianna) Carter, Christopher (Sara Palmer) Carter, Brian (Vilayvanh) Carter, and Mark (Madaline) Carter; grandchildren, Chloe, Abigail, Eliana, Sullivan, Theodora, Hannah, and Shyann; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John Carter, Harold Carter, and David Carter.

Cremation was chosen and private family services will be held at a later date, per Michael’s wishes.
